Entrepreneurs du Monde shares its experience about microfinance in Yangon

On Wednesday 11th of March, Green Lotus team crossed Yangon to get to Dala neighbourhood, where the NGO Entrepreneurs du Monde (EDM) is located.

Alexandre Goutchkoff, Myanmar manager, welcomed us and introduced this international NGO’s activities, which allows thousands of men and women all over the world to launch their micro-enterprise thanks to microfinance, saving accounts and trainings.

Green Lotus assisted to one of these trainings on saving money, delivered by a member of EDM to a group of ten women who launched and supported their microbusiness (mostly local grocery stores) with the loans offered by EDM.

As the microfinance sector is new and growing fast in Myanmar, EDM defines itself as a “social microfinance activist” and pays specific attention to the potential vulnerability of their beneficiaries in case of difficulties paying back the loans.

Green Lotus is looking forward to collaborate with Entrepreneurs du Monde on projects for example related to electricity access in Myanmar with microfinance support.
