“Let’s draft a green Yangon !”, first participatory conference to be held in Yangon City Hall since decades, was organised by Green Lotus, Gaihahita and YCDC on Friday 30 January 2015.
More than 150 people attended speeches about several topics, among which Yangon’s mayor His Excellency U Hla Myint, and Yangon Heritage Trust chairman, Thant Myint U, followed by two panel discussions around city resilience to climate change and Yangon’s masterplanning.
The afternoon gathered the participants from ministries, civil society and foreign companies around maps of the Kyauktada township, where they launched discussions on waste management, energy, building and heritage, gender, transport … to spot issues and discuss solutions. Cartoonists divided on each workshop illustrated the debates and made the restitutions clear and enjoyable for the entire audience.
