Green Lotus at the IFC workshop on performance standards for environmental and social sustainability

On Tuesday 12th of November, the International Finance Corporation, World Bank group focused on the private sector, presented its sustainability framework for investments in Myanmar. Eight performance standards were set to evaluate the environmental and social sustainability of corporate governance:

1. Assessment and management of environmental and social risks and impacts

2. Labor and working conditions

3. Resource efficiency and pollution prevention

4. Community health, safety and security

5. Land acquisition and involuntary resettlement

6. Biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of living natural resources

7. Indigenous peoples

8. Cultural heritage

Today, tight cooperation between companies, government and civil society is needed to insure the sustainable performance of public and corporate governance.
